Position Summary

The facility is seeking a Gastroenterology Physician Assistant to join its expanding GI team in Bronx, New York . This is a full-time opportunity focused on delivering high-quality digestive health care through patient evaluation, procedural support, chronic disease management, and collaboration with gastroenterologists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Position Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive gastrointestinal assessments including patient history, physical examinations, and symptom evaluation
  • Manage patients with acute and chronic GI conditions such as GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging studies, and endoscopic findings
  • Assist with and/or perform GI procedures (as applicable), including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists
  • Provide medication management and monitor treatment effectiveness and patient response
  • Educate patients and families on digestive health, dietary modifications, medication adherence, and disease prevention
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and gastroenterology care programs
Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

Certification:

  • Board Certification as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA)

Licensure:

  • Active or eligible Physician Assistant license in New York
  • DEA registration (or eligibility)

Experience:

  • Prior experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, or related specialty preferred
  • New graduates with strong clinical training and GI exposure are encouraged to apply
