Housekeeper

Location: Blacksburg, VA
Position Type: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, must be available on the weekends when needed

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeper to help maintain a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, guests, and team members. This position is responsible for performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties throughout residential and common areas while following established safety, infection-control, and cleanliness standards.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is respectful and courteous when interacting with residents, and is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, apartments, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean floors, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, tubs, and mirrors.
• Empty trash and properly dispose of waste according to established procedures.
• Make beds and change linens as assigned.
• Replenish toiletries, paper products, and other housekeeping supplies.
• Clean hallways, lounges, offices, dining areas, and other shared spaces as assigned.
• Follow established infection-control, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Properly use, store, and maintain cleaning products, chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Respect residents' privacy, personal belongings, and living spaces at all times.
• Provide courteous and professional service to residents, visitors, and coworkers.
• Complete assigned cleaning schedules and additional housekeeping duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping, janitorial, hospitality, healthcare, or senior-living experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, visitors, and coworkers.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect resident privacy.
• Willingness to follow workplace safety and infection-control procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, push, and pull while performing cleaning duties.
• Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies, linens, trash, and related materials.
• Ability to safely operate standard housekeeping equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.

Work Environment

This position works in a residential senior-living environment and requires regular interaction with residents, visitors, and other team members. The Housekeeper may work in resident living areas, common spaces, offices, dining areas, and other facilities. Exposure to cleaning products and normal housekeeping-related conditions should be expected.
