Title: Certified Medical Coder (CCS/CCP) – Inpatient (Remote)
Location: Brooklyn
State: New York
Work Type: 100% Remote – Eastern Time Zone
Duration: 8 Weeks (Temp to Permanent)
Schedule: Day Shift | 5 Days/Week
4 Weekdays + 1 Weekend Day
Shift Timing: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM ET
Weekly Hours: 35–40 Hours
Job Summary:
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder for inpatient coding within an acute care hospital setting. The coder will assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes based on medical records while ensuring compliance with federal, payer, and hospital coding guidelines. This role requires strong inpatient coding experience, proficiency in coding systems, and experience using 3M and EPIC platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform inpatient coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines
Assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient records
Review clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy
Use 3M/HDS encoder and EPIC systems for coding workflows
Apply federal, payer, and hospital coding guidelines
Research and resolve coding discrepancies
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and coding standards
Collaborate with CDI and clinical teams
Maintain productivity and accuracy targets
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5+ years inpatient coding experience required
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems
Experience with 3M encoder and EPIC systems required
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma / GED required
Certifications (Mandatory):
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) required
CCP (Certified Coding Professional) required
Only CCS and CCP certified candidates will be considered
Additional Requirements:
Must be comfortable working in Eastern Time Zone
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
Experience in inpatient and ED coding preferred
Must consistently meet productivity and quality standards
