Job Description This position is for a Personal Lines Underwriter with an established Insurance Company. In general, the Underwriter would be responsible for interacting with agents and reviewing submissions from agents to determine if the risk meets the Company's guidelines. We are looking for a positive person that can work in a team environment in a professional office. No experience needed as an Underwriter, but personal lines experience required. Solidify relationships with agents and CSR's through support and training. Fully underwrite risks that match the Company's Best Practices by utilizing the Company's operating system and processes required to review a risk. Utilize outside sources to evaluate information about each risk. Adhere to General Statutes and guidelines set forth by the NCDOI regarding timeliness of notifications, cancellations, etc. Test new products and rates as needed. Maintain accurate records of customer and agent interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, comments, and actions taken in the company operating system. Qualifications Hold a NC insurance license in property & casualty and have a minimum of two years personal lines insurance account management experience. Demonstrate strong knowledge of insurance products and usages, rating procedures, underwriting procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage agent relationships. Demonstrate strong customer service focus and an excellent phone manner; display strong written and verbal communication skills as well as possess excellent math and reading skills to accurately perform simple calculations. Have the ability and tact to handle difficult phone calls and solve complex problems without direct supervision. Have a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
